- Q. What is the application deadline for the year 2008?
A. US residents must submit their applications by January 15th, 2008; supporting materials must be received by April 1st, 2008. For international students the application must be received by December 14th 2007, and the supporting materials must be received by March 3, 2008. -
Q. How do I apply?
A. Each applicant for admission to the GSBS must complete the following steps; all documentation must be sent directly to:

- Remit the application fee.
- Send official transcripts -- official transcripts from each college-level institution in which you have ever been enrolled are required; there is no minimum required GPA, but a cumulative undergraduate GPA above 3.0 on a 4 point scale is preferred.
- Submit your official test scores: An official copy of scores earned on the GRE (Institution Code: 6887, Department Code: 0299)
- If applicable, official scores earned on the TOEFL (International English Language Testing System) or IELTS (Test of English as a Foreign Language) must be submitted to Enrollment Services. (Institution Code: 6887, Department Code: 45)

Q. I am an international applicant and English is my first language; am I required to take the TOEFL test?
A. The TOEFL requirement can be waived under the advice of the Sr. Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Dorian H. Coppenhaver, PhD, (dcoppenh@utmb.edu). Minimum scores for the TOEFL are:
- 550 (paper)
- 213 (computer-based)
- 80 (internet-based)
- or a minimum score of 6.5 on the IELTS if your native language is not English

Q. What is the format for letters of recommendation?
A. Three (3) Letters of recommendation sent directly from the individual writing the letter to the Office of Enrollment Services using the required format. -
Q. Can the application fee be waived?
A. We do make exceptions for application fee payment under certain justified exceptions. You may contact the BSCB Director, Dr. Wayne Bolen for more information.

Q. How much is the student stipend?
A. Stipend is currently $25,000 per year and is paid bi-monthly; additionally, Tuition and Fees are covered. Students also receive a ~$5,000 benefits package which includes a medical health insurance plan. Dental and/or Vision insurance is available for a small charge. -
Q. Am I eligible for additional scholarships?
